  • Carrol Milburn Hughes, 75, of Donaldson passed away November 8, 2017. Milburn was born to the late Roy John Hughes and Lola Mae (Prince) Hughes on October 31, 1942 in Malvern, AR. In his youth he attended Bismarck High School and Vo-Tech. Milburn was a maintenance mechanic at Reynolds Metal Co. for 21 years and CenterPoint Energy for 11 years and retired from both. He was a member and a Deacon at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Milburn was a hard worker. He always provided for his family. His family was so important to him. He loved his family and would do anything for them. When he wasn’t working in his garden, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

    Milburn is preceded in death by his parents, Roy John and Lola Mae Hughes, his great-grandson, Kyler Frazier and his son-in-law, Danny Kemp.

    Milburn is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maudie Lavern (Burchfield) Hughes, his daughters, Alisa Lynette (Hughes) Kemp and Carolyn Lavern (Hughes) Frazier all of Donaldson;  his 4 grandchildren, Stephanie (Kemp)Spadoni  (Danny) of Bismarck; Cody Kemp (Lindsy)  of Donaldson; Kristen Frazier of Donaldson, Nick Frazier (Katelynne) of Donaldson. He also leaves behind his 6 great-grandchildren, Clay Spadoni , Landry Tugwell, and Carter Tugwell all of Bismarck; and Austin Moreland, Alli Kemp, and Jazzy Mae Frazier all of Donaldson; and his siblings, Wayne Hughes (Kaye), Donnie Hughes (Jackie) all of Donaldson; and Pat Barton (Tommy) of Bismarck.

    A visitation for Milburn will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be at Prairie Bayou Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronnie Efird, Scott Crawley, Cody Kemp, and Nick Frazier also Danny Spadoni, Jonathan Hughes, Jason Hughes and Darren Green. Honorary pallbearers will be a very special nephew Greg Hughes and all the guys he played softball with.

    I am so sorry to hear about Milburn. He has been a friend to Larry and I for many years. We have enjoyed our once a month meetings and visiting with him and Lavern every month. We will remember the family in our prayers. Sending our love......Pat.
